A decade of construction commences at visionary Harbour Shores community
12 August 2024
A decade of construction that will deliver homes for thousands of Gold Coast residents commenced today as ceremonial shovels hit soil at Lewis Land’s visionary Harbour Shores community.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate and Councillor Shelley Curtis were among the guests celebrating the milestone, which will deliver up to 5,000 new construction jobs over the next 10 years, a new community parkland, public boardwalk, and the most sustainable homes in the city’s history.
Lewis Land Chief Executive Officer Brett Draffen said the vacant 16-hectare site, which has been held by the group for more than 40 years, would be transformed into a vibrant ‘village of villages’ that will ultimately be home to more than 4,000 people.
“Harbour Shores represents the largest and most dynamic community development in Lewis Land’s 65-year history, delivering architectural homes and apartments immersed in nature and world-class amenities,” Mr Draffen said.
“From the outset, we assembled a first-class team of architects, landscape designers, planners and placemaking experts and set an ambitious sustainability goal for Harbour Shores to become the group’s first completely fossil-fuel free development.
Harbour Shores has received a 6 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia, a world leadership standard, making it the most sustainable development in the history of the Gold Coast.
“More than 200,000 new native and tropical plants will immerse the residential spaces in nature, while rainwater harvesting and retention tanks, solar power, and electric vehicle charging stations will ensure Harbour Shores is built for the future.
local builder Greyburn has been appointed to deliver the first collection of boutique buildings and we’re thrilled to have their expertise on this project.”
Lewis Land has a long-standing history on the northern Gold Coast, pioneering the creation of the Sovereign Islands, Ephraim Island, Paradise Point Keys, Huntington Harbour and Harbour Town, redefining luxury, lifestyle and destination retail.
Designed by BDA architects, Harbour Shores will evolve over the next decade to deliver a mix of boutique apartments and villas, communal open spaces and parklands, a 1.2-kilometre waterfront boardwalk, private marina berths, and a range of resort-style resident amenities.
Mr Draffen said the first residential releases at Harbour Shores includes a collection of waterfront villas known as The Residences, and the boutique apartment collection The Waterline, connected by extensive landscaping, green spaces and pedestrian networks.
“The majority of buyers in our first release are local which is a fantastic endorsement of our vision for Harbour Shores,” he said. “More than 40% of the first release is already under contract and based on the current timeline, the first residents will be welcomed to Harbour Shores in mid-2026.”
The collection of three and four-bedroom waterfront villas at The Residences, each with their own private plunge pools, are priced from $3,050,000. Apartments within The Waterline, which enjoys water and park views, start from $1,220,000 for a two-bedroom apartment and $1,620,000 for a three-bedroom apartment.
